“Quiet!” whispered Mia. She could hear footsteps coming. They had been hiding in the closet for almost half an hour, and no one had found them yet. The kids grew silent and patiently listened. The footsteps seemed to be coming closer. “They sound as if they started from the kitchen,” thought Mia to herself. She held her breath as the footsteps slowed in front of the door.
